PES Performance display expertise on an International Stage

Performance Engineered Solutions (PES) Ltd was able to showcase the best of their work on two wheels at international events in support of the recent Tour de France Grand Depart.

The events at the EIS Sheffield and in the VIP Guest area at Meadowhall on the day of the second stage were part of an initiative to bring international business to the Yorkshire region.

The PES display included the new Ribble 883 Aero racing bike built by Bamber Bridge based Ribble Cycles. PES provided their expertise in the design, modelling and testing of the all-new 883 Aero.

Dan Fleetcroft & Mike Maddock with the PES Performance TDF displayHours of advanced computer simulations have resulted in a frameset of varying aerodynamic profiles – Each optimised according to location to reduce turbulence across a wide range of wind directions. At the same time the proprietary blend of Toray T800 and T1000 composite materials used ensures the frameset is both light, yet stiff and provides precision handling.

Also on show was the awesome DR-Moto trackday racing MotoGP bike. At £90,000 for the basic model this is no ordinary motorbike. With 198 bhp and a weight of only 160 kg, the bike has a Power:Weight Ratio double that of the Bugatti Veyron (equating to 1250 bhp/tonne verses 626 bhp/tonne)!

PES have worked on the aerodynamic package for the project which has designed & manufactured a MotoGP eligible specification bike, bringing Grand Prix level technology & performance to the enthusiast rider.

Commenting on the events Mike Maddock, Managing Director at PES Performance said;

“The events have been a great opportunity to showcase our engineering design expertise to local, national and international audiences.

“Although we were displaying our capabilities within motorsports we spoke to a number of people that were interested in what we are able to do with reverse engineering and optimising older heavy engineering machinery. Techniques that have been used in high performance manufacturing environments can be equally relevant to more traditional industries.

“So, like the race itself, it has been a very successful weekend for our business.”

Last month a number of the PES performance team showed their own proficiency on two wheels when they participated in the inaugural L’Eroica Britannia event. The L’Eroica comprised a three-day festival in Bakewell with the highlight being a tour of the Peak District National Park, offering riders 30-, 50- or 100-mile route options. All participants took part on pre-1987 bikes and many donned retro apparel to get into the spirit of the event.
