PES renew links with Porsche Carrera Cup driver
Professional racing driver Paul Rees has confirmed plans to contest the 2014 Porsche Carrera Cup GB as part of the In2 Racing squad as he makes a move into sports and GT racing.
Paul has progressed up the single-seater ladder from Formula BMW into Formula Renault, and the FIA Formula 2 Championship. Paul has been supported in the past by Performance Engineering Solutions (PES) Ltd, and design director Dan Fleetcroft is pleased to link up again with Paul;
“It is good to see how Paul’s career is progressing, and to link up with him again. We are confident that he will perform well in the UK’s fastest single marque sports car competition. The Porsche Carrera Cup is synonymous with technology and optimising the performance of the original 911 over the years.
“Motorsport is the ideal environment to promote PES as we use the same technologies and principles as motorsport to deliver performance focused engineering solutions for our clients.
“Motorsport requires the provision of high performance solutions to meet challenging technical issues, often in very tight timescales – expertise that we provide as part of our services.”
“I’ve had a great opportunity to come back to racing, and sports and GT racing is now my career focus. I want to make my mark in the Porsche Carrera Cup and In2 is a really dedicated team. Everything has come together and I’m very excited: it’s a great package.”
In2 Racing team boss Nick Dudfield is delighted to have signed a Pro category driver for his team; “Paul will be an asset to the team and will enable us to push the team forwards,” said Dudfield.
The Porsche Carrera Cup GB is part of the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) programme, and is competed over 19 rounds on the country’s top circuits including Donington Park, Silverstone and Brands Hatch. This high profile series is broadcast live on ITV4 with the BTCC and other support races. The race series will also be competing as part of the Le Mans 24 Hours weekend in mid-June.
